She always admired the beauty… she was enamored by their presence and awestruck by the scents that filled the room.

She likes Fresh Cut Flowers…

The capture of their beauty in their peak, the instant of their visual appeal, the aesthetics they give the room, the wonder that fills your mind upon close examination…

She likes that… she may not understand what it is that she’s captivated with, or why she stands awestruck during her moment of admiration, but for this brief moment…

she knows what she likes…

In the moment… the window of time that is appreciated in its entirety.

She likes Fresh Cut Flowers…

Given time to grow, these same flowers could have pollinated… they could have reproduced.  They could have grown in number exponentially… they could be many many more, bringing that much more joy and happiness into the world for all to enjoy, not just her.  These buds could have shared their awesome beauty for a much larger window of time had they been undisturbed… had they not been plucked from a soil which was critical of their longevity…

But to her, it doesn’t matter…  they sit on her table, in a pretty glass jar, retaining their beauty for a short while and growing no more…  they are wonderful to look at, they are a pleasant sight…

In their short window of beauty…

But soon…

that will be gone…

they will wilt, wither, and die.

They will no longer be the same gorgeous sight, they will no longer be what they had the potential to be, had they been left undisturbed…

They will be but a rotten corpse of what once was beauty, and a quickly forgotten memory to her.

She’ll not recall them in their prime, when they were at the peak of their beauty and wonder, and she will release the memory of discarding them, making room for something else to fill the table, perhaps another bouquet,

Perhaps… something else all together…

Regardless, the flowers were still once beautiful.  They were still once a source for contentment and pleasure, pleasing to the eye and meaningful to the heart…

Even if it was only temporary to her,

It’s still part of history…

And that makes it forever to those who appreciate the past.

She likes Fresh Cut Flowers…

I like them too.
